Well Child Checks

We at Southside Pediatrics feel it is as important to follow the development and growth of children as it is to address illness. We like to see your child at scheduled well-child checks and encourage you to make such appointments in advance.

Initial newborn visit timing depends on your baby’s unique needs, most often starting at one week of age. The typical well-child checkups are scheduled at: 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 months then 2yrs and yearly thereafter.

Sick Visits

Please call after 8:30 AM to make a same-day sick visit appointment. These appointments are available late morning and late afternoon, Monday-Friday. There are also sick visit hours on Saturday mornings.

You are also welcome to call if you are concerned about your child and have a question. A nurse will discuss the situation with you, speaking with the doctor as needed to be sure you have the support you need. Sometimes we are able to alleviate concerns with information by phone but, if needed, an appointment can be made.

Consult Appointments

Please request a “consult” visit when calling to make an appointment if you feel your concerns may require extra time to fully address. There are occasions when the time allotted for an appointment is not sufficient for the issue at hand (such as a complex medical issue, mood concerns, or a behavioral problem) More in-depth “consult” visits are best for these situations, and are arranged in the later afternoon so your child will receive the attention and time warranted. Please schedule such appointments in advance.

Parental Visits

Please call and request this complimentary visit. We are happy to meet with expecting parents and new patient families.

Shot Visits

Please call to have your child put on the nurse’s schedule if they only need a shot.
As long as your child is up to date with their well checks, we can schedule a quick visit with the nurse to get the vaccination/s taken care of. We have found that scheduling these “shot only” appointments has allowed the nurses to better accommodate them and prevents long wait times. It also will ensure the vaccine in question is available and appropriate for your child.

Holiday Hours

We are open half days on Christmas and New Year’s Eve as well as the Friday after Thanksgiving. We are closed on Christmas, New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Memorial Day and July 4th. We will have a doctor on call if you have a concern.
